I expect the music to be in any modern Quake release. Especially considering the soundtrack hasn’t been used in any other non CD Quake release since. I would be very surprised if id themselves owned the copyright to Trent’s music in the game, even after this time. However, they approached id about the recent (2020?) LP release and were allowed to (it’s still an Interscope/Nothing copyright) and the talk is that the deal was altered to allow future versions of the game to include the music in non-CD formats. In exchange they would need to seek permission from id for any physical releases. They required that it could only be playable from CD while playing the game and subsequent releases haven’t been able to include the music in non-CD format. I’m pretty sure that the soundtrack issues have been sorted between Interscope and id now, haven’t they?
